The first round of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament starts today. Nobody wants to see your bracket.
Instead, because we all love it when an underdog wins, consider this an open thread to talk about the time when you (or someone you know) pulled off your greatest personal upset. This doesn’t have be a UMBC beating Virginia-level upset (or, to keep things North Carolina-related, Mercer beating Duke). Just tell me about your greatest, most unexpected dunk.
I'll go first: Twelve years ago this month, I was working at WCNC-TV, and a producer asked me if I could get coffee for some guests. I topped off two mugs and ran into the studio to discover the guests: The band They Might Be Giants. This was in the morning, and I didn't know how the day could possibly get any better than that.
That night, I met the woman who would become my wife.
