Great story Jeremy. Hugh Morton was a great North Carolinian who made lots of contributions to our state and I’m glad to learn more about one of his significant friends and associates.

Nicely done! A great write up. Julian can not get enough credit. His story is so inspiring. He deserves a full biography someday, but your write up is a beautifully written tribute. For my small part, I feel honored I was able to put a bit of a spotlight on him in my essay and in Marketing the Moon. He was a legend!

Thanks again for bringing NC history (and in this case, WORLD history) to life.

In this day of instant live reporting, it's hard to imagine/remember that it used to take days for events to become widely known. People shared a common bond in wondering what was happening, the great unknowns, not in an ignorant stance, but more of "let's depend on each other to get through this."

Scheer and Morton certainly provided a valuable service to the citizens of NC.

Fixed a sentence in your lede for you.
