Saddened that my favorite place in NC, Chalybeate Springs, didn't make the cut. (Chally-beat? Naw mon, Kah-LIB-ee-at)

I trust that someone mentioned Como, NC.

1 remember riding in the cab of my Dad's tractor trailer in 1949 headed to visit my grandmother in Fountain, NC and passing thru Como. Como had a combination post office, grocery store and Sinclair gas station. I was 6 years old and excited to see the country.
