Hickory also has confusingly-named streets and suddenly-collapsing bridge art. It's a city that truly has something for everyone who enjoys mishaps involving infrastructure.
Having been born and raised in Hickory, this is truly a town where the locals don't even use the crazy addresses at all! We go by landmarks, and if you don't know where they are, you are definitely screwed!
I remember sitting in a live truck for roughly three nights "just in case" the sinkhole would also swallow the restaurant. And I had more than my share of times trying to find 5th Place Avenue Street Corridor Vector Region Court Parkway in Hickory, which, apparently was different than 5th Place Street Parkway Avenue Vector Corridor Region. Who knew?
Hahaha! I vividly remember that sinkhole. I had just moved to Hickory and worked as a field claims adjuster when that happened. Talk about a crappy territory to have (being new to the area) with the street name issues! The locals definitely used landmarks when providing directions.
The carrier I worked for at the time, paid the claim for that Corvette. Went with the other local adjuster, (that handled the Corvette claim), to look at the sinkhole up close and personal. It was insane.
Glad I moved away from that area... it's "special."

It’s… a lot.

I feel like I may have been responsible for some of your I’ll-fated trips to Hickory.
