Fort Liberty has long had a list of off-base places where soldiers aren't allowed to go. That list now includes parties hosted by two DJs from Fayetteville. Why? I asked the Army. And one of the DJs.
I grew up in Fayettenam (later, Braggdad) in the 60s and early 70s, and the payday weekend festivities in and around downtown were LEGEND! Especially the enclave of beer joints and strip clubs in the 500 block of Hay St, fondly known as "Combat Alley." Almost a 1:1 ratio of city cops and MPs to drunken soldiers. Good times! Interestingly, none of those establishments made the banned lists of Bragg or Pope AFB... However, in the late 80s (ish) the entire block was razed and the bars were replaced by the Airborne and Special Operations Museum and various medical buildings. We shall never see the likes of Rick's Lounge and the Kit Kat Club again!
Our man Markovich is on the case as usual! Great reporting. I love McGeachy's attitude, don't care until it affects my income stream. I'm willing to bet the butts actually help his income stream a great deal.

Who don't like butts? I love butts. Crazy fun story. Don Don seems like a pretty smart and cool dude.
