There's been a longtime rumor that Walt Disney himself was thinking about turning our state into the Happiest Place on Earth. Or not! Anyhow, I looked into it.
Used to live not so far away from the Disney deal in northern Va. You nailed the reasons why so many opposed the location of the park, not to the possibility of Disney somewhere else nearby. Northern Va traffic is a grind. Part of the park proposal was a themed water park to compete with water parks and amusement parks in the DC and Richmond areas. Local weather conditions would not have supported a year round outdoor water park. Part of the theme was patriotic and historical and near a famous civil war battlefield. There was never a really clear answer to satisfy local folks as to what the park would actually be after 15 years of operation. Suppose there actually was an established Disney park themed as an historical American celebration of our freedom near DC would play out with the ongoing Disney Florida debacle.
I'm salivating over the possibility of a joint Disney/South of the Border venture. Why should Carowinds be the only interstate theme park? Let your Pedro/Mickey freak flag fly!!

why they need to do this but we can stell enjoy the park exept the hotel is really sad story
