We’ve been going to lake lure for years. The actual lift scene was film in a small pond on the golf course at Rumbling Bald Resort because it was during cold weather and they were able to heat the pond. Many of thee broad lake scenes were then cut into the film and those were from the lake in Virginia where the hotel and dining hall were located. The boys camp in firefly cove was the location for the resort employees and the party where baby carried the water melon. It burnt a few years after the movie came out because of people using the cove to camp and party and leaving an unattended camp fire. If you go to rumbling bald there is a marker on the golf course that indicates where the lift was filmed. Also let me recommend renting at the resort especially if you have kids. They have pools, putt putt, wonderful golf courses, lake tours, lunch and dinner cruises, a beach area, kids activities like marshmallow roasts and other planned activities and the boardwalk. Definitely worth googling them.
