Before Will Ferrell made it famous, Blue Öyster Cult haphazardly added an instrument to one of it's biggest songs. A PR executive in North Carolina paid a lot of money to own it.
I can't tell you how many times I used the "More Cowbell" video to liven up a training session when the energy was flagging in the room. In the early '00s, before everyone and their cat knew of the skit, it always generated a huge laugh and renewed energy. It didn't hurt that I kinda/sorta looked like Ferrell (sans beard) at that point in both our lives...
