I asked for your spicy opinions about the North Carolina-born, first-to-be-impeached, semi-officially worst president ever. You tried, but sorry, the hottest take was written generations ago.
This is the text from the monument in Carthage to Andrew Johnson and I think they were conflicted about his contributions:
ERECTED BY THE CITIZENS OF MOORE COUNTY IN HONOR OF / ANDREW JOHNSON / SEVENTEENTH PRESIDENT / OF THE UNITED STATES / ONE TIME RESIDENT OF CARTHAGE / A STALWART UNION MAN, YET HE THREW HIMSELF / INTO THE BREACH AS A BULWARK, IN FAVOR OF / THE PROSTRATE SOUTH AGAINST FANATICISM IN THE BITTER DAYS OF RECONSTRUCTION. / LET HIS MEMORY BE EMBALMED / IN EVERLASTING FAME
Enjoyed reading this. I learned something I did not know.

As someone born and raised in Greeneville, TN (and now for full clarity living in Greenville, SC) I can attest that growing up I had no knowledge that Johnson was considered the worst President. I do remember this piece: https://www.cc.com/video/j4e10c/the-daily-show-with-jon-stewart-impeach-of-a-town
